Queer Lounge is the "G" Spot for Queer Films in Park City
Out in Television & Film (OTF) Creates a Hip Lounge for Film Festival Attendees in Park City
West Hollywood, CA (December 15, 2003) — Finally! Those attending Sundance, Slamdance and the other film festivals in Park City, Utah who are fans and supporters of gay/lesbian/queer film now have a hip and happening place to congregate. THE QUEER LOUNGE will be located in the Gateway Center just off Main Street from January 16th – 24th, 2004. The lounge is the brainchild of Out in Television and Film's LA Career Event Programmer and independent film producer, Ellen Huang.
The Queer Lounge is a hospitality suite and networking hub where guests (queer or straight) can find out information about queer films playing at the concurrent festivals, check their email, grab a free cup of coffee, view trailers of festival films, attend fantastic panel discussions or just relax on our comfy couches and chairs. Each afternoon, The Queer Lounge will hold networking mixers. There is no admission fee to the lounge. At night, The Queer Lounge will hold VIP events.
The concept and need for The Queer Lounge came to Huang, a former feature film executive, while attending other festivals and film markets around the world. "While at these events I realized there wasn't a place where queer and queer-friendly folk could find one another, hang out and make business contacts," says Ellen Huang.
Word is already spreading about benefits of The Queer Lounge. Slamdance President and Co-founder, Peter Baxter, states, "We are very excited about The Queer Lounge being in Park City. Slamdance supports emerging filmmakers, many who focus on lesbian and gay themes."
The Queer Lounge is a non-profit, independent project not affiliated with the Sundance or Slamdance Film Festivals.
